Network activity update
Although we haven’t been holding many network events, it has been a busy few months for the queer encounters network members. Sara Vanorerewkiewicz took part in an exhibition with Take Up Space, a queer takeover for LGBT+ History month. Annukka Lahti, Gordon diQuattro, Dr Nicholas Hill, Amalina Senupta and Pooja Nair presented papers at the Association for Psychosocial Studies and Association for Psychoanalysis and Culture joint conference at St Mary’s University, London. Harriet Mossop ran a panel on queer theory and psychoanalysis with Moriz Staengl and Raghav Varma from the University of Tuebingen at the University of Essex Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic Studies PGR conference. Alan Lee presented on the historical use of pride symbols as part of a panel at the European Conference on Politics and Gender. And several members of the network attended the SITE for Psychoanalysis’ conference on feminist psychoanalysis Wild Thoughts.
We are currently planning our programme for 2024-25, which we hope will include an event on the queer history of psychoanalysis at the Freud Museum, a joint event with the Association for Psychocial Studies, and some fantastic speakers from our network.
Would you like to be on our programme for 2024-25? We welcome talks / presentations / provocations based on psychosocial research in gender and sexuality at any stage of development, so if you’ve got some ideas that you would like to try out on a friendly audience, please get in touch!
Would you like to support the organising group? We always need help with chairing meetings, helping with social media, website, publicity etc. We’re a friendly group and would love to hear from you!
